The SEforALL Global Forum has seen commitments exceeding $900 million aimed at scaling up energy access and accelerating the transition to clean energy. Hosted in Bridgetown, Barbados, from 12-13 March, the event brought together more than 1,300 participants from over 70 countries to discuss sustainable energy solutions.
Major Financial Commitments Announced
A series of significant funding initiatives were unveiled, demonstrating growing global momentum towards renewable energy investment:
- Nigeria Distributed Renewable Energy Fund ($500m) – The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, SEforALL, International Solar Alliance, and Africa50 launched a fund to finance mini-grids, solar home systems, and energy storage technologies.
- First Loss Equity Fund ($250m) – Allied Climate Partners introduced a fund to stimulate clean energy investment globally, alongside a $130m Caribbean-focused initiative.
- Results-Based Financing ($20m) – The EU, UNOPS, and SEforALL committed funding via the Universal Energy Facility, targeting mini-grid deployment and rural electrification in Sierra Leone.
- ZE-Gen Fossil Fuel Generator Replacement (€11m) – The IKEA Foundation pledged funding to help replace fossil fuel generators with renewable energy solutions in Africa, South Asia, and the Indo-Pacific.
- E-Cooking Scale-Up Programme ($3.5m-$5m) – A partnership between the Middle East Green Initiative, GeCCo, MECS, and UK Aid will expand clean cooking access in Sierra Leone.
National and Regional Energy Plans Announced
The forum also saw the launch of several national and regional clean energy roadmaps:
- Barbados Energy Transition and Investment Plan (ETIP) – Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Minister Lisa Cummins, in collaboration with SEforALL, unveiled a plan for net-zero emissions by 2035.
- Pakistan’s Energy Transition Roadmap – SEforALL and the Government of Pakistan announced a national energy transition and investment plan.
- Formula E Joins Energy Compacts – The Formula E motorsport series committed to UN-backed Energy Compacts, supporting sustainable energy goals.
- GFANZ Caribbean Chapter Launched – The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) introduced a Caribbean division to mobilise private capital for green energy projects.
- Latin America Energy Transition Partnership – SEforALL and OLADE committed to supporting fair and equitable energy policies across Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Africa Renewable Energy Manufacturing Platform – A new initiative was launched to connect financiers with renewable energy manufacturers in Africa and Southeast Asia.
2025 Energy Heroes Award Winners Recognised
Seven global innovators and changemakers were honoured at the 2025 Energy Heroes Awards for their contributions to clean energy solutions:

- Becool Indonesia (Indonesia) – Innovator
- Mee Panyar (Myanmar) – Changemaker

Held for the first time in Latin America and the Caribbean, the sixth SEforALL Global Forum underscored its role as a key platform for fostering international collaboration and investment in the clean energy transition.
